MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Romero Report) — The Greater Aspiration Scholarship Program (GRASP) has announced the recipients of its scholarships for the current academic year.
GRASP, a non-profit organization headquartered in Richmond, is dedicated to assisting students in overcoming the financial hurdles associated with pursuing higher education after completing high school, according to Martinsville City Public Schools.
With GRASP advisors stationed in 111 high schools across Virginia, including Martinsville High School, the organization provides support to students like this year’s recipients Mallori Lowe, Nayti Patel, and Elijah Pickett.
Lowe will embark on her educational journey at Norfolk State University, Patel has set her sights on Virginia Tech, and Pickett plans to pursue his studies at Danville Community College.
Under the guidance of Kathy Carter, GRASP Advisor at the high school, the program has flourished over the past five years, awarding over $23,000 in scholarships to deserving seniors.
“Congratulations to each of these exceptional students,” the school district wrote in a Facebook post. “Best of luck on your next steps!”
