DANVILLE, Va. (Romero Report) – The Danville Police Department has charged an employee of a local pet grooming business with animal cruelty.

On May 9, police received a complaint about prior animal abuse by an employee at a business on Hairston Street.

The complaint included videos, dated January and February 2024, depicting the employee striking a dog, according to authorities.

These videos were shared on social media and other platforms by the complainant.

Animal control, with the assistance of detectives from the criminal investigations division, launched an investigation into the incident.

As a result, 22-year-old Cassidy Gill of Roxboro, North Carolina, was charged with animal cruelty.

Gill was arrested and served with a warrant on May 10.

Police said no further criminal charges are expected at this time.
