HENRY COUNTY, Va. (Romero Report) — Drivers attending graduation ceremonies at high schools in Henry County are advised to plan ahead and be aware of traffic pattern changes.

For those attending Magna Vista High School’s graduation activities on Friday, May 24, a temporary traffic arrangement will be in effect as described in a news release from VDOT.

Lee Ford Camp Road will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., requiring motorists to utilize Soapstone Road for access to the school.

All traffic must use Soapstone Road from Greensboro Road, A. L. Philpott Highway, or Joseph Martin Highway.

The release said all vehicles entering Magna Vista School Road from Soapstone Road will be directed to follow a one-way traffic flow, utilizing both lanes for entry to the parking areas.

Traffic control will be managed by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, along with message boards providing directional guidance.

Drivers heading to Bassett High School for graduation events on Saturday, May 25, should anticipate heavy traffic on Riverside Drive, T.B. Stanley Highway, The Great Road, and William F. Stone Highway between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.

A two-lane traffic flow using designated lanes separated by traffic cones will be implemented.

Drivers are advised not to change lanes within the designated traffic pattern for their safety and efficient parking.

Deputies and attendants will be stationed onsite to assist with parking and traffic flow.

VDOT reminds attendees to follow all directives from traffic attendants and deputies, exercise caution, and plan to arrive early for the ceremonies.
