ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (Romero Report) — The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is collecting fans for the elderly again this year, from now through September 2.

Donors are asked to provide new, Underwriters Laboratories-approved fans in their original boxes, as used fans cannot be accepted, a news release said.

Donations can be dropped off 24/7 at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, located at 130 Justice Center Drive in Reidsville.

For those unable to visit the drop-off location, deputies can be flagged down or contacted via the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 336-634-3232 to arrange for a pickup.

The donated fans will be distributed by the Rockingham County Department of Health and Human Services to elderly residents in need, helping them stay cool during the summer months.

To see if you qualify to receive a fan or to arrange pickup, contact Beth Shoemaker at 336-342-1394 ext. 7041 or Tammy Strader at 336-342-1394 ext. 7023.
