
MADISON, N.C. (Romero Report) — Over a year has passed since 41-year-old Christopher Lee Smith was shot to death in Madison, and Rockingham County investigators are still seeking leads.
Authorities believe Smith was killed around 4 a.m. on May 21, 2023, during a physical altercation with two African American males at Ramon’s Shell on US Highway 220.
The suspects arrived in a light-colored, four-door sedan, which appears be a white Ford Fusion as seen on surveillance photos.
Smith had been shot several times and his body was discovered by a store clerk around 7:15 a.m.
