FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (Romero Report) — Virginia State Police said a 48-year-old man died in a three-vehicle crash in Franklin County.

It happened on Route 220 near Burgess Road on May 24 shortly before 6 p.m.

A 2018 Ford F-150 was going north on Route 220 when it crossed the median and struck a 2003 Freightliner tractor trailer head-on, before colliding with a 2023 Nissan Altima, both of which were going south, according to state police.

Police said the Ford was driven by Christopher Jeffrey Perry, of Apex, NC, who was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

The tractor trailer driver, who was also wearing his seatbelt, sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The driver of the Nissan, who was unharmed, was also wearing her seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
