RICHMOND, Va. (Romero Report) — Virginians can look forward to Free Fishing Days on June 7-9, when no fishing license will be required for recreational rod and reel fishing.
The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) says it is offering this opportunity to encourage more people to enjoy fishing across the state.
During these days, facilities use permits will also not be required, and the restriction on fishing designated stocked trout waters will be lifted, according to DWR.
This change will open over 2,900 miles of trout streams, as well as numerous ponds, small lakes, and reservoirs.
DWR says all other fishing regulations, including size, season, catch limits, and gear restrictions, will still apply.
Anglers are encouraged to take advantage of this chance to fish in Virginia’s diverse habitats, whether it be for stripers on the coast or trout in the mountains.
DWR fee fishing areas will still require a fee during the free fishing days weekend.
