MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Romero Report) — Community music school Da Capo Virginia was awarded a donation by the Martinsville-Henry County Lions Club during their May 28 meeting.
Da Capo Executive Director Tracee Prillaman and Operations Director Alyssa Prillaman presented to the Lions Club membership about their organization and the services it provides.
Alyssa Prillaman shared that since 2006, Da Capo has been transforming lives through music and arts education and experiences throughout Virginia.
The nonprofit organization offers choirs, classes, and concerts for students of all ability levels, guided by their passion and model of inclusive excellence.
Their programs include Da Capo Inspire, a private K-12 inclusionary arts integration center; Vivo, an in-school instructional program for special needs students; and Haven of Praise, a community gospel ensemble.
These initiatives aim to develop and train leaders through music and the arts.
Tracee Prillaman highlighted that Da Capo actively partners with schools, arts organizations, churches, and businesses to deliver experiences, education, and performances to hundreds of students, teachers, advocates, and community members annually.
At the conclusion of their presentation, Lions Club president-elect Lori Floyd made a motion to donate to Da Capo’s efforts, which was unanimously approved.
“We are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Lions Club in supporting our community through positive and impactful music-making initiatives like the ones Da Capo offers,” Alyssa Prillaman told the Romero Report after the meeting.
Tracee Prillaman added that the donation brings them closer to their current fundraising goal for the upcoming fiscal year.
“These funds will allow us to provide and expand exceptional music and arts instruction and experiences in our region,” she said.
