MAYODAN, N.C. (Romero Report) — The Town of Mayodan has announced the upcoming retirement of Chief of Police Charles Caruso.

Chief Caruso, who began his career as a police officer for the town in March 1996, has dedicated nearly 29 years of service.

Caruso was promoted to Chief of Police in March 2010 and will officially retire on September 1.

He will be honored during a ceremony at the town board meeting on August 12, Interim Town Manager Richard Hicks said in a news release.

Hicks also announced in the release that Captain Timothy Knight will succeed Chief Caruso as Mayodan’s next Chief of Police.

Captain Knight will be sworn in during the town board meeting on September 9.
