HENRY COUNTY, Va. (Romero Report) — Police in Eden, North Carolina notified deputies in Henry County of a pursuit involving a wanted man on June 2.

Devron Jacqua Dillard, 30, of Ruffin, North Carolina, was traveling on Morehead Avenue and had illegal narcotics in his vehicle, Henry County Sheriff Wayne Davis said in a news release.

The pursuit crossed into Virginia, where Eden Police discontinued.

Sheriff Davis said his deputies spotted Dillard’s 2005 Ford Explorer going over 100 miles per hour on Morehead Avenue.

As Dillard tried to turn onto Greensboro Road a deputy executed a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver that caused his vehicle to lose control and come to a stop against a guardrail.

He then broke a window, got out of his vehicle, and led deputies on a short foot chase before being arrested.

During the arrest, deputies found illegal narcotics, including cocaine and crack cocaine, in Dillard’s possession, according to Davis.

He was charged by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office with the following:

  • Felony eluding
  • Manufacturing, selling, giving, distributing, or possessing with intent to manufacture, sell, give, or distribute a controlled substance
  • Fleeing a law enforcement officer.

He was held without bond.

Sheriff Davis said Dillard had eight outstanding warrants from the Danville Police Department, which were served, resulting in him being held without bond on those charges as well.

Charges from Eden Police are expected.
