FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (Romero Report) — A two-vehicle crash in Franklin County killed a 26-year-old man on June 15.

It occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Booker T. Washington Highway near Dovetail Road.

According to the Virginia State Police, a 2014 Chrysler 200, going north on Booker T. Washington Highway, crossed the center line and struck a 2016 Toyota Tundra head-on.

State Police said the driver of the Chrysler, Austin Lee Lawhorn, of Moneta, was wearing his seatbelt but died at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, a 38-year-old woman, and two 12-year-old passengers, all of whom were wearing their seatbelts, were injured and taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
