
PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Vesta man is in jail following a disturbance that occurred on June 13, according to the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly after midnight, authorities were called to a domestic disturbance at in the 7500 block of Jeb Stuart Highway in Vesta.
Responding deputies say they found that Brandon Garrick Pegram, 33, had barricaded himself in a bedroom of the home after allegedly assaulting his elderly father.
Evidence indicated that Pegram had damaged the home and forced both his father and a female out of the residence.
During the investigation, information was obtained that Pegram was armed with a handgun.
Multiple deputies from the sheriff’s office tactical team and Virginia State Police troopers were called to the scene.
Communication was established with Pegram, who eventually surrendered.
A loaded .38 caliber handgun was recovered from the room where Pegram had barricaded himself.
Pegram was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and domestic assault and battery.
He is being held in the Patrick County Jail without bond.
