PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (Romero Report) — The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors voted Vincent Shorter in as the interim county administrator during their meeting on June 18.
Shorter, who currently serves as county treasurer, will receive an additional $75,000 above his current salary for this new role, according to the county.
His interim role, starting on July 1, will last for six months.
The board’s decision came with a 5-2 vote.
“The Board is pleased and honored to appoint Mr. Shorter to the position of interim County Administrator,” said Darrell Dalton, Chairman of the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors. “We are confident that he will serve the county with the highest degree of dedication and integrity while the board conducts its search for a permanent replacement.”

Shorter’s appointment follows the resignation of former county administrator Stuart Turille Jr. in April.
“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead the county forward during this time of transition. I’m excited to serve the board and citizens of this great county in this additional role,” Shorter stated.
A native of Pittsylvania County, Shorter has served as county treasurer since 2016.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and criminal justice from Liberty University, a master governmental treasurer certification from the University of Virginia, and a Virginia government accounting certificate from Radford University.
Shorter has over a decade of experience in the film industry, where he managed budgets for various high-profile projects, the county said.
