HENRY COUNTY, Va. (Romero Report) — Charges are pending in a fiery crash in Henry County that resulted in the death of a Martinsville resident.
The crash occurred on June 21 on Spruce Street in the vicinity of Old Liberty Drive at around 12:07 a.m.
A 2006 Ford F-250 was going eastbound on Spruce Street when it crossed the centerline and hit a 2012 Jeep Liberty head-on, according to the Virginia State Police.
The Ford then overturned and caught fire while the Jeep went off the left side of the road, State Police said.

Police said the driver of the Jeep, Michael Lee Poynter, 40, who was wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford, Benjamin Dodson, 25, of Axton, suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
Police say charges are pending against Dodson.
The investigation is ongoing.
