MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Romero Report) — After 25 years of service with the Martinsville Sheriff’s Office, Master Deputy Dean Comer is retiring.
Master Deputy Comer has been a beloved School Resource Officer at Albert Harris Elementary School (AHES) for the past five years, according to Martinsville City Public Schools (MCPS).
He says that, of his many years serving our community as a law enforcement officer, the years he’s spent at AHES have been the most enjoyable and fulfilling.
MCPS said he has enjoyed spending time with students, mentoring them and helping to ensure they are heading in the right direction.

The school district’s Director of School Safety and Emergency Management, T.J. Slaughter, praised Comer for his invaluable contributions to the district.
“I can always reach out to Dean for anything that needs to get done,” Slaughter remarked. “He has been an integral part of our school safety upgrades over the years and he will be greatly missed.”
As he steps into retirement, Comer looks forward to spending more time with his family, fishing, and kayaking.
“Thank you for your service, Master Deputy Comer! We’re so glad that you were a part of our MCPS family!” the school district expressed in a Facebook post.
