FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (Romero Report) — A Boones Mill couple is in custody after a two-year-old was found unresponsive on June 26.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said they got dispatched to the 600 block of Paradise Acres Drive for the incident.
Deputies with help from the Franklin County Department of Public Safety transported the toddler to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said the child’s stepfather, Andrew Ralph Fokas Jr., 39, was arrested after trying to get away from deputies on foot.

The next day, the child’s mother, Jennifer Warren Altice, 34, was also taken into custody.
Both were charged with one count of felony child abuse and neglect: serious injury, and are being held without bond.
The toddler is continuing to receive medical care and is now in stable condition, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
This remains an active investigation.
