REIDSVILLE, N.C. (Romero Report) — A man was arrested at the Reidsville Walmart on assault and weapons charges on June 28.

Reidsville Police officers responded to a report of a person with a gun at the retail store located at 1624 NC 14 just before 1 p.m.

Officers said they took 28-year-old Melford Edison Holloway III into custody in the parking lot.

Holloway has been charged with assault by pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and going armed to the terror of the public.

He has been given a court date of July 16 and is being held on a $25,000 bond.

All on-duty personnel from the Reidsville Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, and North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the incident due to the initial report of a possible active shooter.

There were no injuries and no shots were fired during the incident, according to authorities.
