HENRY COUNTY, Va. (Romero Report) — A Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department engine was struck by a 2023 GMC 1500 on June 19 while attending to another crash, according to Sergeant Richard Garletts, Virginia State Police Public Information Officer.
The incident occurred on Greensboro Road in Henry County near the North Carolina state line at around 7 a.m.
The fire truck was parked in the right lane due to the limited sight distance in the curve, addressing a separate crash site.

Despite having its emergency lights activated and in working condition, the fire truck was hit by the northbound GMC, which was attempting to change lanes, Sergeant Garletts said.
The driver of the GMC, a 56-year-old man, was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
Garletts said he was not charged in connection with the crash.
Authorities did not share any other details about the incident.
