HENRY COUNTY, Va. (Romero Report) — Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) will once again host “Welcome Day” this August for students attending the 2024-2025 academic year.
The mission of “Welcome Day” is to help students make connections, ensure they are ready for their first day, and familiarize them with student services and departments, according to P&HCC.
Last year, the event saw over 370 students and families in attendance.
The events will be held on August 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and August 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the west building on the community college’s campus.
It is open to both new and returning students, and the public is also welcome.

Attendees will receive information to prepare for their first day of class, log into their virtual accounts, create their student IDs, learn about student clubs and programs, locate their classes, and tour the main campus.
Students who have not yet registered for fall classes can do so on-site at the events.
The events will also feature free prizes, giveaways, snow cones, games, and fun activities for new students.
“This event is not only a celebration for the new academic year, but it is also a part of P&HCC’s caring campus approach. The staff believes in taking time to help students feel comfortable on campus and confident about their new journey as a college student,” said Lindsey Bishop, P&HCC academic advisor.
Students who have already applied to the college can RSVP to attend by emailing lbishop@patrickhenry.edu or calling 276-656-0302.
Prospective students who need assistance applying are encouraged to email admissions@patrickhenry.edu or contact advising at advising@patrickhenry.edu or 276-656-5482.
