
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (Romero Report) — Dr. Jennifer Hardin has been appointed as the new principal of Rockingham County Middle School.
Dr. Hardin, who joined Rockingham County Schools (RCS) as an assistant principal at Huntsville Elementary School in August 2011, brings over a decade of experience and a distinguished career in educational leadership, RCS said a in July 9 news release.
After serving at the elementary for three years, Dr. Hardin continued her education on the NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), where she earned her educational specialist degree in 2012.
She was named the principal of Wentworth Elementary School, a position she has held for the past ten years.
Most recently, Dr. Hardin was honored as school district’s Principal of the Year for the 2023-2024 academic year.

“I am excited to get back to my roots of middle school education and look forward to continuing the great traditions and academics that are already in place at Rockingham County Middle School,” said Dr. Hardin.
Dr. Hardin started her teaching career in Guilford County Schools, where she was named “Rookie Teacher of the Year” in 2005 and also “Secondary Rookie Teacher of the Year,” which awarded her a full scholarship to complete her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with a focus in middle grades mathematics at UNCG.
In 2006, she received the school of education early career award from UNCG.
She later served as the master teacher in residence at UNCG on a one-year appointment with the Office of Recruitment and Retention for the School of Education in 2008-2009.
Dr. Hardin completed her post master’s certificate in school administration at UNCG and her advanced learner certification from High Point University in 2009.
In 2010, she achieved her National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Mathematics.
