COLLINSVILLE, Va. (Romero Report) — The Henry County Animal Shelter is set to host its inaugural Dog Days of Summer adoption event on July 14.
It will be held at Jack Dalton Park, 130 Jack Dalton Road in Collinsville, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The event is a partnership with the Franklin County Humane Society Planned Pethood & Adoption Center and the Martinsville Henry County SPCA and aims to fight pet homelessness one adoption at a time.
Families can enjoy games for kids, thanks to Nationwide Homes, and meet a variety of adoptable dogs.
A candlelight vigil in honor and memory of pets will take place around 8:30 p.m., with tea lights available for $5.

These can be purchased at the shelter, located near the park, from Tuesday to Saturday between 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. with cash only and at the event.
“If you’ve been looking for a way to support your local shelter and you’re unable to foster, volunteer, etc., just one $5 tea light can make all the difference in saving an animal’s life. All of the proceeds from this event go back to the shelter to help our shelter animals,” the shelter wrote in a Facebook post.
The event will also feature food from Curly’s Good Ol’ Eatin’, Bahama Sno-Shack, and Rocky Mount Smokehouse, alongside a variety of small business vendors including:
- Tiny Creations
- Fox & Hound Co.
- Angel Light Shop – Joy, Peace and Light
- Bearly Tamed Creations
