DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Two men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place at the Pizza Hut in the 3000 block of Riverside Drive on July 17.

A woman reported being robbed at gunpoint of her vehicle and personal items while she was waiting for her food.

The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, according to authorities.

A short time later, officers spotted the vehicle, the driver accelerated quickly and crashed before running away into a wooded area.

Jayvian Amari Davis, 19, faces charges of carjacking, armed robbery, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police said he was apprehended in Kannapolis, NC, on July 26, thanks to a collaborative effort with the United States Marshal Service and local law enforcement.

Davis is being held on a $1 million bond and is pending extradition.

Phayzaun Shacore Edmonds, 21, was arrested by Danville Police for conspiracy to commit carjacking.

He is currently being held in the city jail without bond.

No injuries were reported during the robbery incident.

ORIGINAL STORY — July 17

DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Authorities in Danville are seeking information following a July 17 armed robbery.

Officers responded to Pizza Hut in the 3000 block of Riverside Drive around 7:45 p.m. for the incident.

A 42-year-old woman reported being robbed at gunpoint of her vehicle and personal items while she was sitting in the lot waiting for her food, according to police.

The suspect is described as a Black male with a light complexion, wearing all black and a face covering, and armed with a gun.

Police said the suspect fled east on Riverside Drive in the victim’s vehicle.

A short time later, officers spotted the vehicle southbound on South Main Street.

The driver crashed near the intersection of Lockett Drive while making a turn off South Main Street.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot into a wooded area.

Despite a heavy police presence, including K-9 tracks, the suspect has not been located.

Police said no one was injured during the robbery.

Businesses located on and around Riverside Drive with video footage from the afternoon of July 17 are asked to notify the Danville Police Department.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department.

Individuals with information leading to an arrest and conviction could be eligible for a cash reward.
