
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (Romero Report) — The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is cracking down on illegal gaming operations.
The Sheriff’s Office said in a July 18 news release that they executed a search warrant on June 27 at “The Little House,” located at 122 NC 700 in Eden.
During the search, authorities said they seized various video gaming electronics, hard drives, video surveillance equipment, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Carl Richard Reeves Jr., 63, of Cooleemee, the registered owner of the business, was charged with:
- Felony operating video gaming machines
- Misdemeanor gambling, misdemeanor operating/possessing slot machines
- Misdemeanor manufacture/sell slot machines
- Misdemeanor possessing prohibited electronic sweepstakes devices
Reeves was arrested in Davie County and received a $7,500 unsecured bond.

On July 18, another search warrant was executed at 9900 US 29 Business in Ruffin.
Similar items, including video gaming electronics, hard drives, video surveillance equipment, and cash, were seized.
This operation was done with help from the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
As a result, Shavon Bauldwin, 38, of Keeling, VA; Dwayne Johnson, 53, of Danville, VA; and Troy Stubblefield, 59, of Winston Salem, were charged with:
- Felony operating more than five video gaming machines
- Misdemeanor gambling, misdemeanor operating/possessing slot machines
- Misdemeanor manufacture/sell slot machines
- Misdemeanor possessing prohibited electronic sweepstakes devices
- Felony conspiracy
The investigation is ongoing, and more charges are expected.
“For more than twenty years, the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association and I have opposed the operation of these gaming establishments in our communities,” said Sheriff Sam Page. “Let me be clear: If these establishments operate illegally in Rockingham County, they will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
