STONEVILLE, N.C. (rbs news now) — A Stoneville man has been arrested for attempted murder after a stabbing incident on August 6.

Rockingham County deputies responded to a reported assault at in the 2000 block of Snead Road in Stoneville shortly after 12 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies said they found Christina Nicole Hardy, 36, at a neighbor’s home, bleeding from numerous stab wounds.

Hardy was taken to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities said they believe she was stabbed about 20 times by her boyfriend, Joshua Blayne Darnell, 36, of the address.

Investigators charged and arrested Darnell for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, and attempted murder.

Darnell is being held at the Rockingham County Detention Facility under a $400,000 secured bond.
