FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — An 18-year-old driver died in a single-vehicle crash in Franklin County on August 9.

It happened around 7:20 a.m. on Six Mile Post Road about half a mile west of Calico Road.

According to authorities, a 2004 Ford F-350 was going east on Six Mile Post Road when it veered off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

Police said the driver, identified as Michael Hunter Stiltner, of Callaway, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

Authorities determined that speed was a factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
