ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A woman died on August 8 after a tree fell onto her mobile home in Rockingham County during Tropical Storm Debby.

The Williamsburg Fire Department responded to the scene on Clearwater Lane after receiving a call about the incident.

Upon arrival, firefighters said they found the tree had crashed into the home while the woman was in the bathroom, resulting in her death.

The woman lived alone.

Authorities said the woman’s daughter, concerned for her mother’s safety during the storm, called a neighbor to check on her.

When the neighbor arrived, they noticed the fallen tree and authorities were later alerted.
