DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — An apartment fire displaced numerous residents in Danville on August 11.
Firefighters responded to the structure fire in the 600 block of Bridge Street at around 11:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, units found a fire in an apartment within a five-story apartment building.
Crews were informed that the occupants of the affected apartment were safely outside and accounted for, the Danville Fire Department said in a news release.
Firefighters made entry into the apartment to extinguish the blaze while other teams began evacuating residents from neighboring units.

The blaze was extinguished, but one apartment sustained significant fire damage.
The release said four additional apartments on the floor below suffered water damage.
Officials deemed all five units uninhabitable and the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents with relocation.
The fire was determined to be accidental, according to the department’s fire marshal’s office.
Crews worked on the scene for approximately three hours.
No injuries were reported.
