DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — The Danville Police Department has arrested a 37-year-old woman and her 18-year-old son following an investigation that led to the seizure of multiple dogs on August 16.
Tomara Tanya Twigg, 37, of Danville, has been charged with 10 counts of failure to vaccinate for rabies and four counts of animal neglect.
Her son, Kenneth Tate, 18, also of Danville, faces 36 counts of animal neglect and one count of animal cruelty.
The arrests come after animal control officers began investigating a case of animal abuse on August 15, at the Danville Pet Resort on Ash Street.
During the investigation, a dozen dogs were seized in poor condition, with some requiring immediate veterinary care, according to police.
The Danville Area Humane Society assisted in the transport and seizure of the animals.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Danville Police Department.

DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Danville Police are investigating a case of animal abuse at a pet business, where a dozen dogs were seized in poor physical condition.
On August 15, officers responded to a complaint about possible animal abuse and neglect at Danville Pet Resort, located on Ash Street.
The ongoing investigation and a search of the business on August 16 led to the seizure of 12 dogs, some of which required immediate veterinary care, according to police.
The Danville Area Humane Society assisted in the transport and care of the animals.
No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
