HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) has received a $12,500 HEAT Program FY25 Equipment Reimbursement grant from the Virginia State Police.
The funds will be used to bolster campus security by installing 4K surveillance cameras with license plate identification capabilities, according to a news release.
The release said the state-of-the-art cameras, designed to endure outdoor conditions, will be positioned at key entry and exit points on campus, including Patriot Avenue and the main parking lot.

“We are grateful for the support from the State Police HEAT Program,” said P&HCC Chief of Police Gary Dove. “Not only will this enhance the security and safety of P&HCC’s campus, but it will also boost the security of the service region by allowing the campus to assist law enforcement in the city of Martinsville and Henry County as they work to ensure the safety of our broader community.”
This technology will enhance safety by helping the college identify stolen or wanted vehicles and persons.
