ROANOKE, Va. (rbs news now) — The Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police and Foundation (VACP) presented its highest honor, the Award for Valor, to 36 law enforcement officers from 12 different agencies on August 27.
Among the recipients was Martinsville Police Department Lieutenant Doug Graham.
The awards were presented by Governor Glenn Youngkin at a banquet held in Roanoke.

The Award for Valor is given to law enforcement officers who perform acts of extraordinary heroism while engaged with an adversary at imminent personal risk, according to the police department.
“The Martinsville Police Department is extremely proud of Lt. Graham and his willingness to put his life on the line to protect the people of this community,” the department wrote in a Facebook post on August 29. “This is Lt. Graham’s second VACP Award for Valor, having first received the honor in 2011.”
