MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — New College Institute (NCI) has announced an expanded partnership with the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy (PRCJTA) to offer de-escalation training.

This program, housed in NCI’s Baldwin Building, features the MILO Range Theater simulator, providing a 180° field of view and a realistic training environment for law enforcement recruits.

The simulator allows trainees to engage with multiple threats from all directions, adjusting scenarios based on their responses, a news release said.

“We have been so proud to home this simulator and watch the PRCJTA recruits complete their training, attend graduation in our lecture hall, and enter into their careers,” NCI Executive Director Joe Sumner said. “We couldn’t be more excited to expand our partnership by offering this training to more organizations around the region, including those who are already serving in a career in law enforcement.”

The training is now available to all law enforcement agencies and outside organizations, including schools.

The release said for $100 per trainee, groups of 4-10 can participate in a four-hour course that includes hands-on simulation exercises.

The program also offers customizable scenarios tailored to specific training needs.

“All law enforcement and even other organizations can benefit from this training,” PRCJTA Executive
Director Ben Rea stated. “There are many scenarios to choose from already in the system, and we can create
personalized scenarios for organizations who need particular training in a specific facility.”
