
HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A wanted man has been charged after he shot a man and barricaded himself inside a home the next day in Henry County.
Raymond Dwayne Taylor Jr., 37, of Stoney Mountain Road, Martinsville, had outstanding warrants for allegedly yelling at a man before pulling out a gun and shooting him in the leg on September 4.
On September 5 around 10:45 p.m., deputies tried to arrest Taylor at a home in the 3600 block of Irisburg Road in Axton.
He barricaded himself in the basement, armed with a gun, along with another male, when deputies got there, according to authorities.
Deputies said they tried to contact Taylor, but he did not acknowledge them after multiple attempts.

The S.W.A.T team and crisis and hostage negotiations team were called to the scene.
Negotiators tried to contact Taylor multiple times, finally reaching him by phone around 1:33 a.m.
After negotiations, he surrendered peacefully at around 1:37 a.m. and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Taylor was arrested on charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He is being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
The Virginia State Police assisted in the incident.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — An Axton man is wanted after a Martinsville man showed up at the local emergency room with a gunshot wound on September 4.
Deputies responded to the hospital after receiving the report and spoke with the victim, Julius Alfonzo Page III, 44, of Martinsville.
Page had suffered a gunshot wound to his right thigh and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being released from the hospital, a news release said.
During the investigation, authorities determined that Page had been walking on Lakewood Trail in the Laurel Park area of Henry County when he encountered a man with dreadlocks.

According to Page, the man began yelling at him before pulling out a gun and shooting him in the leg.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Raymond Dwayne Taylor Jr., 37, of Axton.
Taylor, who is currently on probation for burglary in Henry County, has been charged with the following offenses:
- Malicious wounding
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
