HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — The Henry County Department of Public Safety has announced the retirement of longtime Fire Marshal Lisa Garrett.
“While we celebrate her well-deserved retirement, her leadership and dedication will be deeply missed,” the department wrote in a September 10 Facebook post. “Lisa has been an invaluable asset to our team, and her legacy of service will leave a lasting impact.”

In the same announcement post, Kiah Cooper, current Assistant Chief of Fire Prevention/Assistant Fire Marshal, was named as Garrett’s successor.
“Kiah has been an integral part of the county’s fire marshal’s office and the fire prevention division for nearly 12 years, demonstrating exceptional commitment and expertise,” the department wrote. “His wealth of experience ensures a smooth and successful transition as he steps into this vital role.”
Both are effective January 1, 2025.
