HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A single-vehicle crash on September 17, claimed the life of Ray D. Smith.

The crash occurred at around 10:53 p.m. on Chatham Road, near the intersection of Lee’s Ridge Road in Henry County.

According to Virginia State Police, Smith, 66, of Axton, was driving a 1998 Land Rover eastbound on Chatham Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment, and overturned.

State police said Smith, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
