HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — Authorities are continuing their investigation into the fatal shooting of a Ridgeway man.

Brent Douglas Wagoner, 40, was found dead in his home on Poplar Street on September 21, 2022.

Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 1:09 p.m. reporting an unconscious and unresponsive man.

Upon arrival, they said they discovered Wagoner inside his residence with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.

Wagoner’s body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, and investigators collected evidence from the home.

According to the sheriff’s office, cell phone and data records were obtained, and physical evidence was submitted to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science for analysis.

As the investigation continues, Sheriff Wayne Davis told rbs news now that they have a person of interest in the case, though no arrests have been made at this time.
