EDEN, N.C. (rbs news now) — The Eden Police Department has charged a 17-year-old student with multiple firearm-related offenses.
This comes after authorities got information that a Morehead High School student was in possession of a gun while at school on September 30.
Police said they were notified of the incident after school hours.
Following an investigation, the department consulted with the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office, leading to juvenile petitions being issued.
The teen was taken into secure custody before midnight and faces charges of:
• Possession of a firearm on educational property
• Possession of a firearm as a minor
• Carrying a concealed weapon
Due to North Carolina law, further details about the teen cannot be disclosed.
The investigation remains ongoing.
