The pair was also charged for a separate incident on September 25, in which shots were fired into a family’s vehicle on Janet Road.
Two children, aged two and five, were in the vehicle, but neither was injured after the two-year-old’s child safety seat stopped the projectile, according to investigators.
Purgason was charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, while Watkins was charged with aiding and abetting by providing a convicted felon with a firearm.
Purgason is being held in the Rockingham County Detention Facility on a $1,002,000 secured bond, and Watkins is being held on a $500,000 secured bond.
The sheriff’s office is still searching for Robbie Wayne Hicks, 34, of Mayodan, who is wanted in connection with the home invasion.
Anyone with information on Hicks’ whereabouts is asked to contact Rockingham County Crime Stoppers at 336-349-9683.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office, and the Greensboro Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
