MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — There is an investigation underway and very little details following a shooting in Martinsville.

Officers responded to the shooting on October 14 shortly before 10 p.m. to find a man who had been shot at Avalon Arms Apartments located on Corn Tassel Trail.

The victim, a 47-year-old Martinsville man, was suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body, according to authorities.

He was transported to SOVAH Health Martinsville.

Officers processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.

At this point, it is believed that there is no danger to the community.

Police said more information will be released when available.
