DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Authorities are investigating after a 24-year-old man was struck by a Norfolk Southern train on October 11.

Officers responded to the scene near the South Main Street in Danville overpass around 6 p.m., where they found the injured man on the tracks.

He was transported from the scene and later airlifted due to the severity of his injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
