HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A man is behind bars for barricading himself during a standoff incident in Henry County on October 16.

Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Patrick County Sheriff’s Office responded after getting a disturbance call shortly before 1 a.m.

Upon arrival to the 1300 block of Morningside Drive in Bassett, authorities determined that Jonathan Robert Forcier, 31, had assaulted both his wife and another male.

The wife sustained minor injuries, while the male fled before law enforcement arrived, according to deputies.

Deputies said Forcier armed himself with a knife and barricaded himself inside a camper, threatening law enforcement and engaging in self-harm by cutting his right arm and leg.

After several hours of attempted negotiations, the Henry County SWAT team deployed chemical munitions, and Forcier exited the camper.

He was taken into custody and treated for minor self-inflicted injuries.

Forcier was arrested and charged with assault and battery against a family member.

He is being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
