PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A shooting in Pittsylvania County left a 58-year-old man dead on October 19.

Deputies responded to a call around 4 p.m. and said they found Paul Glass Jr. with a gunshot wound in the front yard of a residence in the 500 block of Delta Drive.

Glass, a resident of Hurt, was transported to Sovah Health in Gretna, where he later died, according to authorities.

His body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Investigators identified and detained a suspect at the scene, and charges are pending further investigation.

Officials assured the community that there is no ongoing threat related to the incident.

“No further details will be released at this time regarding motive or reason behind the shooting,” Gerald Ford, Captain of the Bureau of Investigations for the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, said. “We are still investigating and working with our commonwealth’s attorney’s office on this incident.”
