PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Martinsville man was arrested following a break-in and confrontation with deputies in Patrick County.
The incident happened on Cherry Creek Road in Vesta on October 28.
Corey Adam Martin, 26, of East Main Street, reportedly kicked in a door at a residence occupied by a lone female, which lead her to call law enforcement.
Deputies arrived at the scene, spoke with the victim, and located Martin walking nearby.
When deputies tried to arrest him, Martin allegedly fled on foot, resisted arrest, and continued to struggle even after a conductive energy device/TASER and OC (pepper) spray were deployed.
Additional deputies arrived, and after a prolonged effort, Martin was subdued and taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office said Martin, a multiple-time convicted felon with a record of five probation violations convictions, appeared to be under the influence of meth.
A meth smoking device was reportedly found in his possession, which will be sent to the state forensic lab for analysis, according to authorities.
“Every time we deal with him, he does this. It is just a matter of time before he seriously hurts someone,” said Sheriff Dan Smith, adding that the repeated incidents with Martin often necessitate the use of force.
Once in custody, Martin continued to be combative within the jail intake area.
Martin is currently held in the Patrick County Jail without bond, facing charges of obstruction of justice, trespassing with intent to damage property, destruction of property, and public intoxication.
Additional charges may be forthcoming pending the analysis of the smoking device.
