PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A single-vehicle crash that occurred on October 28 took the life of a 69-year-old man.

Authorities said it happened around 12:13 p.m. on Smith Mountain Road near Lumpkin Road.

A 2022 Mack truck was traveling on Smith Mountain Road when it veered off the right side of the road.

The driver overcorrected, causing the truck to cross the center line and overturn, according to police.

The driver, identified as Samuel Lawrence Wright, of Bedford, was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
