DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — Danville Transit will offer free bus rides throughout the city on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5.

This is being done to encourage voter participation by eliminating transportation barriers, a news release said.

The free service will apply to all Danville Transit operations, including fixed-route and reservation-based services.

The release said the fixed routes cover most polling sites across the city, while the Reserve A Ride service provides door-to-door transport, although it may be limited based on demand.

Registered voters in the city will have the opportunity to vote in five races: President and vice president, U.S. Senate, House of Representatives Fifth District, City Council, and School Board.

Voters will also decide on a proposed state constitutional amendment.
