HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A 29-year-old man who came to Henry County to meet a 14-year-old for sex has been arrested.

On November 1, law enforcement from Henry and Patrick counties conducted an undercover operation targeting people trying to exploit minors online.

Mitchell R. Cook, of Kitten Lane in Rural Retreat, sent multiple lewd and sexually explicit messages to an investigator through an online forum, according to authorities.

Cook believed he was talking with a child to arrange a meeting for a sexual encounter.

Later that day, Cook traveled from Pulaski to Henry County and was taken into custody without incident after arriving at the designated location.

He has been charged with five counts of using a communications system to solicit a juvenile.

Cook is currently held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
