PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A South Boston man was fatally shot in Pittsylvania County on November 5.

Deputies said they were dispatched at around 7 a.m. to Old Quarry Road in Ringgold where they discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as Tauron D. Brown Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown’s body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office, where the official cause and manner of death will be determined.

Authorities report that a suspect was detained at the scene, and charges are pending further investigation.

The Pittsylvania County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office is assisting in the investigation.

Officials believe the incident is isolated, posing no further threat to the community.
