MARTINSVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A 46-year-old man was shot on Thanksgiving Day in Martinsville.

Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Chatham Heights Road shortly before 8 p.m. on November 28 in response to a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, they said they found the victim, a Hispanic man, suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to SOVAH Health of Martinsville for treatment.

His condition remains unknown as of the latest update.

Police detained a suspect at the scene and are conducting interviews with witnesses while processing evidence.

Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
