HENRY COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Thanksgiving Day shooting left one man dead in Ridgeway and a suspect in custody.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on November 28 at an apartment complex on Villa Road.

Authorities responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting that one of the apartments had been shot into.

Deputies arrived and discovered the front door of an adjacent apartment open, Henry County Sheriff Wayne Davis told rbs news now.

Deputies said they found Marquise Antonio Waller, 29, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside.

Waller was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to chief medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Shortly after, Takai Anthony Brodie, 25, called 9-1-1 and admitted to being involved in an altercation at the location that led to the shooting, Sheriff Davis said.

Brodie has been charged with first degree murder and use a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He is being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
