DANVILLE, Va. (rbs news now) — A Danville woman was found dead in her home on December 6, and her grandson has been charged in connection to her death.
Danville Police were dispatched to a home in the 1300 block of College Park Drive just before 2 p.m. for a well-being check on 81-year-old Patsy Scearce.
Upon arrival, officers said they Scearce dead inside the home with trauma to her upper body.
Earlier that day, at 11:46 a.m., police received a report of a train striking a man in the area of West Main Street and Booth Road.
The man, identified as 35-year-old Barry Pyron Jr., was transported to a regional medical facility with major injuries.
Authorities said Pyron lived with his grandmother, Scearce.
Following the investigation, Pyron was charged with second-degree murder in connection to Scearce’s death.
Police have not released additional details, citing the ongoing investigation and security concerns.
