PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (rbs news now) — A Chatham man has died after being struck by a vehicle in Pittsylvania County.

The incident occurred at around 9:35 p.m. on December 7 on Lawless Creek Road near Pritchett Lane.

According to Virginia State Police, a 2001 Ford Expedition going north on Lawless Creek Road struck a pedestrian who was walking in the road.

The pedestrian, identified as Maurice Antwon Briggs, 33, was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries on December 8.

The driver of the Ford was not injured, and no charges are pending in the case.

The crash remains under investigation.
